Father of the bride

As I lost my dad in my final year of uni I worried that I might find this part of wedding photography a challenge. In fact, I found it to be the exact opposite. I never had my own dad at my wedding so documenting the emotion and pride which you only get from a father of the bride is actually extremely rewarding. Even the most reserved of dads can't hide his feelings on his daughter's wedding day.

This image is particularly special. Nicola was unaware that her dad was watching the final stages of bridal preparation and I could see how proud he was. I managed to capture him through the gap between her and the make-up artist. I am sure Neil won't mind me saying that he is a man of few words. Luckily a picture speaks a thousand words!

I just love this shot and was really chuffed when it won a Bronze award from the Guild of Photographers.
