documenting life in lockdown

As soon as I found out about this project I knew I had to get involved. Spearheaded by the Duchess of Cambridge it aimed to capture the hopes, fears and feelings of the nation as we dealt with the Coronavirus outbreak.

With weddings postponed and family shoots on hold I was really missing photographing my favourite subject - people. Spurred on by the project I reached out via Faceboook to neighbours and friends to invite me into their personal experiences of lockdown. The results were wonderfully varied!

Katie and James

My very own 'Romeo and Juliet'. Only this time they are both on the balcony together and Romeo is sporting an amazing Panama hat. As James knows, I flipping love that hat!

Nicola and james

I photographed this brilliant couple's wedding last October. We decided to recreate their favourite wedding image - lockdown style. Thanks to Nicola for being so resourceful and finding a great replacement for her bouquet and veil.

Elle and Sydney

Humans have a knack for adapting to their current circumstances. I loved capturing this socially distanced playdate in the sun. It involved ice-creams, dens, making slime and two very good friends. Playdate perfection!

my mum

My mum has lived on her own for many years and coped brilliantly with full Lockdown. However, I was glad to have a reason to pop and see her with the regular 'food drop'. Even if it was through the porch door or the dining room window.

Hayley, fin and noah

I got to see a whole range of emotions on this shoot - in the space of 10 minutes! This photograph tells a clear story of family life in Lockdown that I'm sure many of us can relate to. I just love this shot!

love for the nhs

My neighbour down the road has been enjoying the sun in his deckchair on the front drive throughout Lockdown. He is keen to tell passers by about his admiration for the NHS. His artwork is now proudly displayed in Solihull Hospital.

LIN AND RUSS

I am very lucky to have such lovely nextdoor neighbours. We had more than the average conversation over the garden fence during Lockdown. Lin shared her new-found love for vegetable growing with me and I'm hoping my tomatoes will be a huge success!

home schooling

I had mixed results with my efforts to keep home schooling on track. Very often, the PS4 reigned supreme. Fortunately, Tom will be returning to school tomorrow (as I write this blog) and I am very thankful to the teachers for making this happen!
